Day 3:
Today is jean’s birthday! So we had a mini celebration in our room. Today is a free day as there aren’t any lessons or cultural visits. Met up with the local students and went to the street behind the campus to have lunch before we go for shopping. Although the food street there is not like restaurant and the environment is rather dirty and old, the food is simply tasty and most importantly cheap! The xiao long pau only cost 3rmb for 8. This is really very cheap and worth it as it cost about $6 plus in Singapore. We also tried the chicken sticks and pancake.

The place we went to is like our orchard road with a lot of shopping malls. Their cinema system is different from us. The ticketing booth is not located directly outside the cinema but at another building. Not like in Singapore, there isn’t any screen playing trailers but only a screen that shows the movie slots.

Reflection:China is not as undeveloped as we think. The shopping malls there sell the products as us at about the same price and are even bigger than some of the shopping malls in Singapore. Furthermore, they have many different brands that they established by themselves. I believe in near future, they will be even more developed and may even be better than us.
