Day 1 - Departure

Finally it’s the day to wuhan! Reached the airport early in the morning at 5.30am! My dad and grandmother came to send me off. However was quite sad that my mummy and brothers could not send me off. Had some photo taking session and my dad and grandmother went off. Can’t imagine that I can’t see them for 6 whole weeks! Off we went to board the plane!

The meal that china southern airline provided was not was not that appealing as you can see. After that, we had a transit from Guangzhou airport to Wuhan and had our lunch at the Guangzhou airport.

Took a bus from Guangzhou airport and finally, we have reached our final destination, Wuhan University of Science and Technology! The weather there is very cold and everyone was freezing. The students there welcome our arrival and are all friendly. Then even initiated to carry our luggage to our room. The hostel was not as bad as I expected. After putting our luggage, the local students brought us to the street behind the campus for dinner and purchasing the necessities. The food there is not only cheap but also savory. Then they brought us around to shop for our necessities and we went back to the hostel. This marks the end of our first day!

These are the local students that brought us around.

Reflection:
According to what the Wuhan students told us, they do not have heater in their room, use public toilets as they do not have one in their hostel, and the electricity and internet connection in their room is cut off at 11.30pm every day. After hearing this, I feel that we are actually very fortunate that our hostel is actually very good compared to theirs. Also, we should break out from our comfort zone and that we should not take things for granted. This is a good start for me to learn to be independent and do everything by myself. Moreover, I have made great friends! Looking forward to day 2!
