Day 16

Woke up quite early today and we went to Macdonalds for breakfast as we have been craving for it. Then, e gathered at 1pm for the 3 days 2 nights Three gorges trip. On the bus, the tour guide told us about the 土家族. For them, guys are called ah ni and girls are called ah bu. But for us, ah bu means mother. After the 4 hours ride from wuhan to Yichang, we stopped to have dinner at a restaurant. The food is better as it is not so oily. I think that Yichang is more advanced than wuhan. The roads, buildings and surroundings in yichang and the surroundings are better and cleaner too. There are also traffic polices directing and smoothing the traffic flow. After dinner, we continued with the journey to the port to board the cruise.

Our dinner

The ambience for dining is very good as you can see.

On the way, we passed by 5 tunnels in total. The 4th tunnel is extremely long! It is 3600米 and it takes about 5 minutes to pass through. We reached the terminal at about 8 plus. Had a bad encounter when boarding the cruise. Only 7 of us including Ms neo managed to pass through at the terminal at first as the guard claimed that our tour guide did not inform them about us passing through. Therefore, the ticketing staff stopped the rest from passing through. We went to board the cruise first and the tour guide settled the problem and the rest of them joined us shortly. By the way, our cruise is called Golden sun.

From what we heard from the previous batch, the rooms that we are going to stay on the cruise are very dirty and there are mouse and cockroach in the toilets! But our cruise is not as bad as they have described. Even though the toilet is very small and sometimes there is no water when we flush the toilet, and also there is no internet condition, the bed is still acceptable and is thicker than what we sleep on in the hostel. Furthermore, there is also a television in the room. However, we found a small bug on the wall and we called fathullah to catch it.

Reflection:
China is indeed big as it takes hours to reach from one place to another. Different parts of china have different pace of development. Wuhan is not as developed as Yichang. Yichang is more developed with nicer surroundings and better traffic flow. I think that the tour agency here should improve on their service. They should not have let the incident happen and keep the rest of the students waiting at the check point being squeezed and pushed around. Also, the ticketing staff should be more flexible with their service and not just go by the book. Even though the problem may arise due to the tour agency, they did not try to resolve it and causing the customers to be unsatisfied. This will ruin their company’s image too.
